Learning Specialist - STEM/Allied Health

Part-Time

Job Description

The Learning Specialist will provide face-to-face and virtual academic assistance for students. This position will support the needs of students across STEM and Allied Health content areas. The Learning Specialist must develop and maintain a working rapport with the students, work with them individually and/or in small groups, exercise good judgment, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The learning specialist will exercise strong organizational skills, exhibit an eagerness to learn and be of service, and promote positive student, faculty, and staff relations. A positive attitude and a team player is a must!

Provide professional tutoring to students (content area tutoring, TABE/PERT reviews, study skills, etc.) through the Academic Success Center (ASC)

Illustrate knowledge of study skills and strategies

Assist Tutor Lab Manager by supervising peer tutors in the absences of the manager

Assist ASC Coordinator in the following:

  • Academic Coaching with emphasis given to students under probation status, and Allied Health/Career & Technical Programs
  • Administration of diagnostic assessments
  • Development, implementation, and facilitation of workshops and/or study sessions face-to-face and virtual
  • Assist in the development of online resources specific to subject specialty
  • Provide Supplemental and Course Instruction when needed
  • Perform various administrative tasks associated with marketing and promotion of ASC services
  • Provide documentation of contact with students and maintain case notes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from an accredited institution preferred, content related coursework, program certificate and/or work related experience.  The Learning Specialist must also have a demonstrated understanding of working with people and must have training or experience in the fields of education and supervision.

Registered Nurse -

Full Time Faculty Position

NFCC is seeking an enthusiastic nurse educator. Must have a current Florida unrestricted Registered Nursing license (and eligible for compact license for practice in Georgia).

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing or Pediatrics nursing preferred.
  • Must have at least two (2) years paid working experience as an RN.
  • This is a full-time (11 month) Faculty position.

OPS Position - Groundskeeper

Groundskeeper needed for 20 – 25 hours per week.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  1. Maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
  2. Assists Grounds Supervisor in maintaining ponds.
  3. Remove dirt, rubbish, leaves and all other refuse from grounds.
  4. Make a regular inspection of assigned areas to insure that grounds are properly maintained.
  5. Maintains house plants in buildings.
  6. Dig, plant, prune, and spraying trees, shrubs and flowers as needed.
  7. Install and/or repair irrigation systems.

SUMMARY

Provide administrative services to the Office of Resource Development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Partial duties include:  

Development and External Affairs:

  1. Promote the College, its mission, its programs, and its Foundation in the six county service district area when speaking to all concerned parties.
  2. Maintain all accurate records appropriate to the job duties
School Districts:
  1. Collect all scholarship applications from High School/Technical Schools
  2. Visit each school district as needed to inform students of scholarships, meet with counselors, as needed.
  3. Maintain Database of all contacts in schools; including Superintendent, Finance Directors, Principals, Guidance Counselors
  4. Contact dual enrolled students concerning scholarships after high school graduation.
  5. Prepare all high students award notification letters and scholarship procedures form.
  6. Prepare a list of all annual high school/technical centers Awards Ceremonies and list of all scholarships to be presented at each school and by whom. This includes Presidential and NFCC Advantage scholarships along with Foundation Scholarships.
  7. Maintain contact with Florida Prepaid Department about changes in Take Stock in Children and STARS programs.
  8. Meet with school districts on their Prepaid Scholarship accounts at least quarterly to keep them informed of their accounts; Take Stock in Children and STARS.
  9. Maintain current status of Prepaid Scholarship recipients
  10. Assist School District on reinvestments of prepaid scholarships

Instructional Coordinator of Criminal Justice SUMMARY

Act in the absence of the Public Safety Director to assure quality control of the vocational law enforcement, correctional, and continuing education criminal justice training programs with chief duties being the daily scheduling of instructors, courses and facilities and maintenance of records.  This position also holds the responsibility for verifying instructor records to director.

Partial Duties include:

  1. Management of all courses to assure that criminal justice training, both recruit and advanced education course programs, meet the goals and objectives of North Florida Community College and the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC).
  1. Be prepared to teach classes as needed in the absence of scheduled instructors, and/or during course testing.
  1. Act as liaison for Director when needed with agencies, students and administration.
  1. Ensure safety of students and training school instructors.
  1. Report deficiencies in facilities, equipment and supplies to the Director.
  1. Prepare requisitions for supplies as needed.

CJSTC.

  1. Assist in the development, administration and security of examinations
  1. Report all expenditures to be charged to CJSTC Trust Fund to comply with Florida Statutes, CJSTC Rules and Policies and Procedures.
  1. Prepare all documentation required for NFCC and CJSTC courses, including student certificates for advanced/specialized course.
  1. Report all incidences of violations of academy rules to director to assure compliance with CJSTC rules and Florida Statutes.
  1. Conduct student orientations and provide a set of applicable rules to recruit students. Make recommendations to the Director on disciplinary matters as prescribed by the Recruit Manual.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited  College or University preferred, or graduate of the FBI National Academy, or Southern Police Institute, or five (5)  years related experience and/or training in the criminal justice field. Candidate must hold a current Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission  General Instructor Certification, and/or meet FAC 11B-20.001 instructor requirements High Liability Certifications preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a Florida law enforcement or corrections certification from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards Training Commission (FDLE/CJSTC), or be able to attain certification within 180 days of employment as a condition of employment.

Should be eligible in all respects to become an active Law Enforcement Reserve Officer.  If a Local Reserve Law Enforcement position is available, participation is required.

Must have a valid driver’s License.

Commercial Truck Driving Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
  • Instructors will work no more than 25 hours per week.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II background check.

SUMMARY

Through strong, local support from the truck driving and timber industry, North Florida Community College plans to begin offering a certified program in the field of commercial truck driving. This program is designed to prepare new drivers for their commercial driver’s license ("CDL") as well continuing education refreshers for existing drivers.  A portion of the training will focus on the specific skills needed within the timber industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess an active Florida Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) and a current Department of Transportation physical.
  • Over the road experience, clean driving record. Preferred experience in the logging industry. 

Duties include:  

  • Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including permits, logbooks and trip planning.
  • Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including backing, shifting, and behind the wheel.
  • Maintain student files.
  • Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment.
  • Monitor inventory of training supplies.
  • Evaluate and grade students throughout the program.
  • Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment/placement of students.

North Florida Community College is looking for quality Adjunct Instructors to teach day and/or night Regular and Dual Enrollment College Classes. The following disciplines are needed:

Requirements: 

  • A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.

  • Chemistry Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the chemistry discipline.
  • Biology Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the biology discipline. Evening hours preferred.
  • Math Adjunct Instructor: A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in Math. (Fall Semester)

  • EMS Adjunct Instructor: Must be a paramedic with at least 4 year’s experience and have successfully completed an associate's degree or higher. Must be willing to attend a 40 hour instructional methodology course.

  • Interpreter: For Deaf students - Must be certified. Degrees not required.
