Admissions and Records Specialist

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of admissions to include, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or two years of related experience: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Partial duties include: 

  1. Assists prospective students by providing information about the admission process;
  2. Prepares and mails admissions packets;
  3. Processes admission applications and inputs data into the database system; maintains the accuracy and integrity of the manual and automated files on all students being considered for admission;
  4. Assists with the administration of the state policy on residency classification of students;
  5. Assists with registration by entering course requests for Academic, PSAV, PSV, and Supplemental students;
  6. Processes college and high school transcripts;
  7. Prepares student files for file room;
  8. Provides student registration verification letters;
  9. Assists with evening registration;
  10. Assists with providing students with transcripts of work completed;
  11. Assists in the preparation of required college reports by entering data, reviewing records, and correcting records;
  12. Assists the Dual Enrollment Coordinator with dual enrollment applications and registrations.
  13. Assists students with compliance with certification for educational benefits for veterans and dependents;
  14. Duties include greeting and assisting office visitors, filing, making copies, answering and directing telephone calls, and assisting students and faculty.
  15. Assist at all Commencement ceremonies.

Staff Assistant – Institutional Research

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

The Staff Assistant provides administrative support within the Office of Institutional Research. The Staff Assistant also greets employees, students, answers phones and any other related function as requested.  Must have the ability to regularly handle multiple competing priorities.

Partial Duties include:

  1. Have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to create Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Access databases, as well as ability to graph and chart data.
  2. Assist in the creation of an annual Fact Book as well as monthly Quick Facts report.
  3. Assist as needed with course and program assessments.
  4. Assist with the updates and maintenance of the OIERA’s website, ensuring that it is a major resource for faculty, staff, administration, and other College stakeholders when they need information regarding institutional effectiveness, research, and/or accreditation
  5. Schedule meetings arrange travel and all required documentation; prepare requisitions, manage mail for the office, maintain and update electronic files, perform inventory of campus buildings and rooms, and maintain programs offered log.

Qualifications:

Learning Specialist - STEM/Allied Health

Part-Time

Job Description

The Learning Specialist will provide face-to-face and virtual academic assistance for students. This position will support the needs of students across STEM and Allied Health content areas. The Learning Specialist must develop and maintain a working rapport with the students, work with them individually and/or in small groups, exercise good judgment, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The learning specialist will exercise strong organizational skills, exhibit an eagerness to learn and be of service, and promote positive student, faculty, and staff relations. A positive attitude and a team player is a must!

Provide professional tutoring to students (content area tutoring, TABE/PERT reviews, study skills, etc.) through the Academic Success Center (ASC)

Illustrate knowledge of study skills and strategies

Assist Tutor Lab Manager by supervising peer tutors in the absences of the manager

Assist ASC Coordinator in the following:

  • Academic Coaching with emphasis given to students under probation status, and Allied Health/Career & Technical Programs
  • Administration of diagnostic assessments
  • Development, implementation, and facilitation of workshops and/or study sessions face-to-face and virtual
  • Assist in the development of online resources specific to subject specialty
  • Provide Supplemental and Course Instruction when needed
  • Perform various administrative tasks associated with marketing and promotion of ASC services
  • Provide documentation of contact with students and maintain case notes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from an accredited institution preferred, content related coursework, program certificate and/or work related experience.  The Learning Specialist must also have a demonstrated understanding of working with people and must have training or experience in the fields of education and supervision.

Commercial Truck Driving Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
  • Instructors will work no more than 25 hours per week.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II background check.

SUMMARY

Through strong, local support from the truck driving and timber industry, North Florida Community College offers a certified program in the field of commercial truck driving. This program is designed to prepare new drivers for their commercial driver’s license ("CDL") as well continuing education refreshers for existing drivers.  A portion of the training will focus on the specific skills needed within the timber industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess an active Florida Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) and a current Department of Transportation physical.
  • Over the road experience, clean driving record. Preferred experience in the logging industry. 

Duties include:  

  • Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including permits, logbooks and trip planning.
  • Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including backing, shifting, and behind the wheel.
  • Maintain student files.
  • Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment.
  • Monitor inventory of training supplies.
  • Evaluate and grade students throughout the program.
  • Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment/placement of students.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Attend clinical rotations with students
  • Maintain and evaluate clinical performance
  • Keep student informed of clinical performance
  • Supervise care provided by nursing students in contracted long-term care, acute care,  and community facilities

Looking for some part time income?

North Florida Community College is looking for quality Adjunct Instructors to teach day and/or night Regular and Dual Enrollment College Classes. The following disciplines are needed:

Requirements: 

A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.


  • Chemistry Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the chemistry discipline.

  • Biology Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the biology discipline. Evening hours preferred.
  • Math Adjunct Instructor: A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in Math. (Fall Semester)

  • EMS Adjunct Instructor: Must be a paramedic with at least 4 year’s experience and have successfully completed an associate's degree or higher. Must be willing to attend a 40 hour instructional methodology course.

  • Interpreter: For Deaf students - Must be certified. Degrees not required.

There is a need for these classes to be taught throughout our six (6) county area which includes: Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor. Every consideration will be made to place you in your county of choice
