New Flagpole Dedicated at NFCC Public Safety Academy

Ceremony Honors All Who Serve or Have Served in Public Safety, EMS or the Military

MADISON, FL (Oct. 6, 2016) – The North Florida Community College Public Safety Academy and NFCC Foundation partnered with the Daughters of the American Revolution Edward Rutledge Chapter in Lake City to install a new flagpole at the NFCC Public Safety Academy in Madison. Oliver Bradley, Veterans Affairs Officer for Madison County and Jefferson County, donated the new American flag that is now flying at the Public Safety Academy’s building entrance. A dedication ceremony was held Oct. 6, 2016 to dedicate the new flagpole and flag in honor of all who serve or have served so bravely in public safety, emergency medical services or the military. Guest speaker was Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart who reminded us of the history of the American flag and the flag’s enduring symbolism of our freedom. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard provided the Presentation of Colors. NFCC Public Safety Academy Director Rick Davis thanked all for attending and supporting the dedication ceremony. “This is a great addition to the NFCC Public Safety Academy,” said Davis. “It means a great deal to the College and we appreciate the DAR Edward Rutledge Chapter and Mr. Bradley for their part in getting the new flagpole and flag in place. Our student recruits, who are beginning their careers of service in public safety and emergency medical services, will benefit from this symbol and reminder of our freedoms and those who have served bravely before them to safeguard those freedoms.”
