June 2018

"Kids in College" Summer Camps

Three interactive and fun-filled camps are being offered as a part of the "Kids in College" summer camp program during June and July at NFCC. These camps are geared for children in completed 1st through 6th grades. Weekly camps will run Monday through Thursday, June 11-June 28 and July 9-26; no camps scheduled during the week of July 2-July 5.

Campers can register per week or attend all six weeks, and attend a full day (fitness, art and theatre camp) 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; half day in the morning (fitness and art camps) 8 a.m.-12 p.m.; or half day in the afternoon (theatre camp) 1-5 p.m. Different projects each week.

  • DATES: June 11-14; June 18-21 and June 25-28 (Monday-Thursday)
  • Dates also offered in July: July 9-12; July 16-19 and July 23-26 (Monday-Thursday)
  • AGES: Completed 1st grade through completed 6th grade
  • CAMP FEE: Varies; see camp page for details
  • CAMP FOCUS: Full day - fitness, art and theatre. Half day - fitness and art. Different projects each week.

Mechatronics Camp (Full)

NOTE: This camp is full and is not accepting new participants. To be placed on a waiting list in case of a cancellation, email Bill Eustace
  • DATES: June 11-15, 2018 (Monday-Friday), 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • AGES: High School Students
  • FREE; campers responsible for bringing their own lunch
  • CAMP FOCUS: Learn about engineering design and 3D printing; Create 3D designs with SolidWorks 3D modeling software; Learn precision measuring using micrometers and calipers; Utilize machining concepts to create projects

Engineering Technology Camp (Full)

  • DATES: June 18-22 (Monday-Friday), 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • AGES: High School Students
  • FREE; campers responsible for bringing their own lunchEngineering Graphic
  • CAMP FOCUS: Learn about electromagnetism, then apply what you learn to build yourown working electric motor; Make homemade batteries from common household items and use them to power every day devices; Learn about the seven basic machine components and use these to build your own mechanical device;Explore basic electronic components, then build your own working transistor radio

Health Scholars Camp

This three-day camp explores healthcare topics and careers nursing, science, fitness and nutrition in engaging, fun and educational ways. Campers will enjoy games, team building exercises, guest speakers and field trips to local healthcare facilities.

  • DATES: June 26-28, 2018 (Tuesday-Thursday), 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • AGES: 6th-8th Grade
  • CAMP FEE: $25, Includes Lunch; space is limited

  • CAMP FOCUS: Create LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robots; Enjoy STEM related activities; Learn about engineering; Participate in robotics challenges
